Starting Date: The majority of our programs allow you to choose your starting date without missing anything. This flexibility ensures that you can begin your artistic journey at a time that best suits your schedule. Here’s how it works:

  • Flexible Start: You can decide when to start your program. Simply select your preferred start date from the adjacent calendar.
  • General Start Dates: If you prefer a more structured option, we typically begin new programs on the first Monday of each trimester (30 Sep 24 – 13 Jan 25 – 14 Apr 25 – 7 Jul 25 – 6 Oct 25)

How It Works:

  1. Initial Evaluation: When you join Madrid Academy of Art, we start by conducting a small evaluation during your first few days. This helps us understand your current skill level and artistic goals. Based on this initial assessment, we discuss your preferences and decide on the best approach for your learning experience.
  2. Structured Program: We can design a personalized program for you, outlining specific exercises and projects that will help you progress. This structured approach provides guidance on what to work on and the best practices to follow for your development.
    • With Model Program: If you have booked a program that includes Live Model Sessions, you can choose to attend either the model class or the Skill Development Sessions during your scheduled hours. There is no requirement to always attend the model class; you have the flexibility to decide based on your interests each day.
    • Without Model Program: If your program does not include model sessions, you will attend the Skill Development Sessions during your scheduled hours.

Session Types: We offer two distinct types of sessions:

– Live Model Sessions

These are sessions with a live model, which have a specific schedule:

        • Monday to Thursday: 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM
        • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Live Model Sessions focus on studying the human form through direct observation, allowing you to work on figure and portrait poses that typically last one to two weeks. These sessions offer variety in models’ age, build, gender, and race to provide a broad range of study subjects.

– Skill Development Sessions

These sessions are always available whenever the school is open, providing continuous access to a wide range of exercises:

      • Cast Drawing and Painting: Improve your understanding of light, shadow, and form.
      • Anatomy Studies: Enhance your knowledge of human anatomy, focusing on bones and muscles.
      • Still Life Painting: Develop your skills in composition, color, and texture.
      • Landscape Painting: Practice capturing natural scenes.
      • Master Copies: Learn from classical artworks by replicating them.

For Beginners:

Beginners will dive into the world of sculpting by working on copies. This foundational practice helps students understand the basics of modelling, including how to work with clay and other materials. The focus will be on developing essential skills and techniques that form the basis of sculpture.

For Advanced Students:

Advanced students have the opportunity to work on personal projects. The process begins with sketching ideas to conceptualize the project. We’ll explore different approaches and techniques, creating detailed pencil sketches to plan the sculpture. Once the concept is solidified, students will construct an armature using wire to define the structure and size.

Key Learning Stages:

  1. Sketching: Initial sketches help visualize and plan the sculpture, understanding proportions and details.
  2. Structure Creation: Building the armature to provide a solid foundation for the sculpture.
  3. Volume and Form: Developing the sculpture’s volume, focusing on anatomy, gesture, and movement to bring the piece to life.
  4. Texturing: Applying textures to add depth and realism, refining the final touches to complete the artwork.

Throughout the program, students will receive personalized guidance and feedback, ensuring they progress at their own pace and achieve their artistic goals.
