This intensive summer course is designed for artist eager to delve into the art of character design. Throughout the program, you will explore advanced techniques in character creation using digital tools such as Procreate and Clip Studio. This course is ideal for artists looking to enhance their skills and develop a solid portfolio in a creative and collaborative environment. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll experience (8 weeks program):

  1. Exploration of Advanced Techniques:
    • You’ll start with the basics and quickly move to advanced character design techniques, ensuring a solid foundation and growth.
    • Learn to create detailed character concepts, from initial sketches to fully rendered designs.
  2. Procreate and Clip Studio Mastery:
    • Gain proficiency in two of the leading digital art tools, Procreate and Clip Studio.
    • Whether you’re new to digital art or looking to enhance your skills, this course provides comprehensive training on both platforms.
    • If you prefer, you can focus on just one of these tools or explore the benefits of mastering both.
  3. Developing Unique Characters:
    • You’ll learn how to build characters that stand out, with unique personalities and backstories.
    • Explore different styles and techniques to develop your distinctive artistic voice.
    • Engage in creative exercises designed to push your imagination and innovation.
  4. Technical and Artistic Growth:

  • Part-Time Program:
    • Morning Schedule: Monday to Friday: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
    • Afternoon Schedule: Monday to Friday: 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM (with a lunch break from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM)
    • Summer (July and August): 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
  • Amateur and Other Programs:
    • Flexible schedule based on your chosen hours.

Special Events:

    • Winter Trimester: No local holidays.
    • Spring Trimester: May 1st (Labour Day), May 2nd (Community Festival of Madrid).
    • Summer Trimester (July and August): No local holidays.
    • Fall Trimester: November 1st (All Saints’ Day), December 6th (Constitution Day) or December 8th (Immaculate Conception)​.

Flexibility and Recommendations:

  • We are generally quite flexible when it comes to making changes to your schedule, as long as it’s possible. Sometimes, due to limited spots, changes may not be feasible.
  • If you need to make changes to your program, please let us know at least one week in advance. The more notice you give, the better the chances we can accommodate your request, although this will greatly depend on the specific situation.

 

  • Device: Bring either a laptop with Clip Studio installed or an iPad with Procreate installed.
  • Digital Pen: A digital drawing pen is required for sketching and designing.
  • Sketchbook and Pencil: Ideally, bring an A4 sketchbook, a pencil, and an eraser for traditional drawing exercises.

Classrooms and Study Spaces

  • Classroom: Main room for classes.
  • Study Room: Dedicated space for individual and group study.
  • Library 📚: For book consultations (books cannot be taken home).

Cafeteria

  • Coffee and Tea ☕🍵: Available for self-service.
  • Microwave: For heating food.
  • Tables: For eating.
  • Free Fruit 🍎: Usually apples or other fruit available.

Common Areas

  • Rest Areas: Sofas for relaxing inside the school.
  • Terrace 🌞: Outdoor area with benches, often used for smoking and socializing.

  • Lockers 🔒: Each student can have a locker, with the option to use a small padlock.
  • Storage Units: For leaving artwork, boards, and paintings.
