When does the program start?

The program begins in October, however, you can always enrol at the beginning of each term. The latest deadline for receipt of applications for admissions are as follows: 

  • 1st Term – before 31 July 
  • 2nd Term – before 30 November
  • 3rd Term – before 28 February
What is the minimum enrollment period?

The minimum enrollment period is one term (3 months)

How long does it take to complete the full program?

The skills taught in the program should take you around 3 years to master. In your specific case, the duration will depend on your dedication and learning ability it will take you more or less to finish the program.

How long does each academic year last?

The academic year lasts 9 months. It begins in October and ends in June, both months included.

How does the admission process work?
  1. Book a personal interview. You can book your interview here or alternatively via phone +34 679 49 29 15
  2. Personal Interview. You will have a personal interview (15 to 30 minutes) via videoconference. 
  3. Notification. Once you finished the selection process, You’ll receive a phone call or email informing you of the committee’s decision.

Once you have been admitted, we will ask you to confirm your place with the payment of a non-refundable deposit (345€). This fee is deductible from the total program cost and must be paid before the indicated date. 

Your place will be reserved as long as the rest of tuition fees are paid before the due date, as we described below

When do I pay my tuition/fees?

Payment of tuition fees opens two months before the start of the term and closes one month before the start of the term. The deadline for the payment of tuition fees for each term is:

  • 1st term – Before September 4, 2021
  • 2nd term – Before December 3, 2021
  • 3rd term – Before March 11, 2022

If the payment is not formalized before those dates, the place will be assigned to another student on the waiting list and the deposit will be lost.

Do I need a visa to study at MAA?

If you are not an EU citizen, you must obtain a student visa before coming to Spain to start the MAA program. Requirements may vary depending on citizenship, from country to country and many times, from consulate to consulate within the same country. To begin, you should first contact your closest Spanish Consulate or Embassy and ask for the list of documents and procedures to apply for a “type D” student visa (often a personal visit to the Consulate will be required). This visa allows a 90 days stay in Spain. Within this period you should apply for a student card in order to legalize your situation.

MAA provides a letter of support called a “Certificate of Acceptance” after you have confirmed that you are accepting the place in the program and paid the tuition deposit. Should your consulate request more information, we urge you to contact the MAA Admissions office to make us aware of your needs. We will adapt the certificate to reflect the information required by your consulate. As an incoming student, you will be responsible for all other information and documentation.

MAA will provide as much support as possible to assist you. Applying for and obtaining the visa on time to begin the program is your responsibility. We recommend that you contact the Consulate as soon as possible upon admission and keep us informed of any difficulties you encounter.

Am I going to work with a model?

Most of the time. In most of the classes, you will work with a model, either figure or portrait. However, you will also have some classes in which you will work with master copies, Bargue or cast.

How many students are there per class?

In most of the classes, the limit is 8 students per class.

Do I need to speak English to apply?

English is the language of instruction, so you need to have a sufficient level to be able to follow the class.
